Commitment to Sustainable Construction Practices

Melbourne Civil Works’ vision is to ensure sustainable construction practices are adopted throughout our construction process, consistently meeting the highest environmental benchmarks. Our organisational commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in our eco-friendly processes.

Our Life cycle assessment determines the environmental impacts of products, processes or services, through production, usage, and disposal (cradle to grave). Here’s how Melbourne Civil Works ensures responsible and sustainable construction practices through our policies and procedures:

Energy Use

We aim to minimise energy usage in all our projects. For instance, in one of our recent projects, materials were utilised extensively, thus helping to cut down on energy consumption that would have been useful in extracting and processing new materials. We also observe the growth of our fleet’s energy efficiency, such as vehicles that employ renewable energy to power equipment on the territory.

Water Use

Water usage management is one of the strategic priorities we set in environmental activities. It’s important to note that we use as much recycled water as possible in the construction activities. This approach not only saves fresh water but also minimises the depletion of water resources in the locations where our projects are conducted so that our projects are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Waste Management

We minimise waste by always finding suitable options related to recycling and finding transfer stations that utilise excavated materials to benefit the company such as recycling topsoil, crushed concrete rock, recycled asphalt and profiling ,bricks get recycled to 4 inch rocks which are used to build temporary roads required in building sites. MCW encourages to approach every opportunity that arises in recycling building materials to support the community and eliminate pollution where possible.

Transport

To minimise the carbon footprint, the company obtains materials as many as possible within the area of the country. This not only promotes local companies but also cuts down the emissions that are a result of transportation. Our employees and contractors are given the best and most efficient routing plans to decrease transport distance, thereby achieving another aspect of environmental savings.

Sustainable Practices of Waste Management

Melbourne Civil Works is committed to purchasing products and services that are energy efficient or have other clear sustainability features. Sustainability features may include reduced carbon footprint, improved energy efficiency, lower running costs, the longevity of the product, automatic switching systems. Recyclable products or components, reusable products and product stewardship and remanufacture products are also attractive sustainability features considered.

Other Considerations for Sustainability Products and Services

  • Low energy low carbon materials and products.
  • New sources or better production of renewable energy
  • New applications for existing and recycled materials
  • Processes for decontaminating, remediating and rehabilitating water
  • Production technologies that use less energy and generate less waste; and.
  • Waste management program.

Through these sustainable measures, Melbourne Civil Works confirms its commitment to sustainability in all the projects that it undertakes. We are dedicated to maintaining our commitment to sustainability. Through these sustainable practices, we continuously strive to uphold our responsibility to the environment in every project we undertake.
